Convention Call
The CUPE BC 2026 Convention will be held April 29 to May 2 at the Victoria Convention Centre. Every local has been sent the official Convention Call along with a range of supporting documents. These can all be found below in the Convention Notice Documents & Forms section at the bottom of this page.
Registration Information
Online registration will open on February 9, 2026. At this time, locals may proceed to register delegates based on their credential entitlement.
The deadline to register online is March 16, 2026. Locals registering after the deadline are responsible for securing accommodations for their delegates. Please contact W.E. Union Travel at 604-969-5585 regarding cancellations and wait lists before seeking accommodations outside the CUPE BC room block.
Locals may also register their delegates on-site during Convention. However, to avoid additional wait times onsite, we highly recommend all registrations be completed online by March 16, 2026.
Credentials
While Locals may begin registering their delegates as of February 9, 2026, please note that per capita must be paid to January 31, 2026, prior to April 29, 2026, to have delegates seated at Convention.
Delegates will be required to present ID at registration to receive their kit and electronic voting pads. The credentials registration deadline, for the inclusion of delegate names in the Convention Book, is March 16, 2026.
Travel & Accommodation
CUPE BC has secured a block of rooms for delegates at the Fairmont Empress and surrounding hotels in downtown Victoria. The W.E. Union Travel Convention registration site will go live on February 9, 2026, at which point locals may proceed with registering and booking accommodations for their delegates. Delegates with accessibility needs (e.g., wheelchair-accessible room) are asked to note their requirements in the accommodation form under ‘Accessibility Needs.’
For those not registering online, the Division strongly encourages Locals to only book rooms once their delegates are confirmed to attend Convention. We also kindly ask Locals to confirm their delegate names with W.E. Union Travel by March 16, 2026, to prevent attrition charges and waiting list challenges.
All Locals are required to register for accommodations by March 16, 2026. Any unassigned rooms will be released after the deadline, and Locals will then be solely responsible for securing accommodations for their delegates. Please contact W.E. Union Travel at 604-969-5585 to inquire regarding cancellations and waitlists before seeking accommodations outside the Division room block.

Childcare
CUPE BC will provide onsite childcare from April 29 to May 2, 2026 at the Victoria Conference Centre. Pre-registration is required and the deadline to register is March 23, 2026. Please note that we will not be able to accommodate requests for childcare after this deadline.
There is a nominal fee of $10 per day/per child for the entire day or any partial day. Lunch and snacks are included, not breakfast or dinner. Please complete one registration per child using the online form.
Subsidy
Any locals eligible for reimbursement are required to complete the online Subsidy Application Form at the time of registering their delegates. Per Section 4.7 of the CUPE BC Constitution, please note that the deadline for subsidy applications is March 16, 2026.
Convention Committees
At this time, CUPE BC would like to request name submissions online for candidates to serve on the following Convention Committees:
- Credentials Committee
- Membership Verification Committee
- Resolutions Committee
The terms of reference for each, along with the nomination form, can be found under the Convention Committees tab in the Convention Notice Documents & Forms section below. The deadline to submit names for Convention Committees is March 2, 2026.
If your Local or District Council has not confirmed its delegates to Convention by the submission deadline, please submit (an) application(s) under your Local/District Council name for the committee(s) that you would like your delegate(s) to serve on.
Kindly note that all committee members must be delegates to Convention.
Resolutions
The Resolutions tab found under the Convention Notice Documents & Forms section below contains relevant information for the drafting and submitting of resolutions for consideration at the convention. Resolutions should be submitted by email (in MS Word file format) to events@cupe.bc.ca.
The resolutions submission deadline is March 2, 2026 at 12:00 pm PST.
CUPE BC will not require written signatures from Presidents and Secretaries for resolutions submitted by email (in MS Word file format). Please note, however, that all resolutions must be submitted by and with the approval of both the Local President and Secretary.
