Karen Ranalletta is President of CUPE BC, and was elected to the position in May 2021.  She has previously served three terms as General Vice-President of the union and was the elected President of CUPE Local 2950, representing over 1,500 clerical and library workers at the University of British Columbia.

In addition to her role as CUPE BC President, Karen is on the CUPE National Executive Board as Regional Vice President – B.C. and the National Safe Union Spaces Working Group.  Karen represents CUPE BC as an Officer (Vice-President) of the BC Federation of Labour and chairs the BC Federation of Labour Health and Safety Committee. She also chaired the CUPE BC Universities and Young Workers Committees and is a member of the CUPE National Post-Secondary Task Force. Finally, Karen sits on the Board of Directors for the BC Labour Heritage Centre, an organization dedicated to preserving and championing working people’s history in BC.
