MISSION — CUPE Local 1267 has applied to the BC Labour Relations Board to seek the assistance of a mediator as part of ongoing collective bargaining with the City of Mission.
The union believes that mediation offers the best opportunity to continue negotiations and reach a fair collective agreement while avoiding unnecessary disruption to the public services Mission residents rely on every day.
“Our goal has always been to negotiate a fair agreement at the bargaining table,” said Annie Dunville, Acting President of CUPE 1267. “Applying for mediation demonstrates our commitment to continuing negotiations and doing everything we can to reach a fair agreement.”
“We believe Mission residents deserve every reasonable effort to avoid disruption to the services they rely on,” said Dunville. “We are calling on the City to demonstrate that same commitment by agreeing to participate in mediation so bargaining can move forward.”
CUPE 1267 represents approximately 340 municipal workers who deliver a wide range of public services in Mission, including public works, parks, recreation and culture, forestry, fire prevention, engineering, bylaw enforcement, RCMP support services, and administrative services.
