District of Chetwynd workers ratify new contract

District of Chetwynd workers ratify new contract

February 15, 2024

CHETWYND – After a collaborative round of negotiations CUPE 3052 members, municipal workers in the District of Chetwynd, have overwhelmingly ratified a new four-year contract.

The new agreement includes wage increases of 5 percent in both 2024 and 2025, and 4 precent in both 2026 and 2027. Full-time and part-time employees will also receive a signing bonus ranging between $250 and $500.

“This was a very efficient round of bargaining and we’re pleased to have a new contract in place that both addresses our members key bargaining priorities and improves public services for residents and businesses,” said CUPE 3052 President Carla Sanford.” We had a lot of productive dialogue at the bargaining table and that allowed us to find solutions to challenges faced by workers and the District.”

Other key improvements negotiated include improvements to sick leave, bereavement leave and standby pay as well as changes to scheduling that better accommodates workers family responsibility and generally allows for better work-life balance.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the District of Chetwynd to provide the quality public services residents and businesses rely on,” adds Sanford.

CUPE 3052 represents 55 workers who work for the District of Chetwynd.
