CUPE BC endorses Hancock and Rennick for National Officers

CUPE BC endorses Hancock and Rennick for National Officers

In advance of next month’s CUPE National Convention, CUPE BC’s Executive Board is endorsing Mark Hancock for re-election as National President and Candace Rennick for National Secretary-Treasurer. CUPE BC is also encouraging delegates to Convention to re-elect Lee Ann Kalen for General Vice President, Karen Ranalletta and Barb Nederpel for Regional Vice Presidents, and Shireen Clark for Trustee.

The Executive Board issued the following statement:

“We look forward to continuing to do good work on behalf of our members with Mark, Candace and rest of the National Executive Board. We thank retiring national secretary-treasurer Charles Fleury for his many years of service to our union and we believe that Candace Rennick is a great choice for the position.

“We also encourage delegates to Convention to re-elect Lee Ann Kalen as General Vice President for B.C. and Alberta, and to also re-elect our own Karen Ranalletta and the HEU’s Barb Nederpel. We know they will all continue to do an excellent job representing us on the National Executive Board.

“And we strongly recommend re-electing CUPE Local 374 (Greater Victoria Municipal and Community Services) President Shireen Clark for Trustee, –a truly important but sometimes overlooked position that helps ensure the finances of our union are beyond reproach.”
