Resort Municipality of Whistler workers ratify new contract

WHISTLER – Civic workers in the Resort Municipality of Whistler, represented by CUPE 2010, have ratified a new three-year agreement that addresses affordability challenges for workers and ensures continued high quality public services for residents, visitors and businesses.

“We’re pleased to have completed this round of negotiations and reached an agreement that both reflects current economic conditions and recognizes the valuable services CUPE 2010 members provide in Whistler,” says CUPE 2010 President Pete Rozsa.

The three-year deal provides wage increases of 3 percent in 2022, 4.5 percent in 2023 and 4 percent in 2024. It also includes a one-time lump sum inflationary support payment of 4.5 percent, based on 2022 regular wages.

Other key improvements include increased vacation time for long serving members, improvements to call out and overtime language as well as changes to scheduling to better respect work-life balance.

“CUPE 2010 members are proud to provide critical community services that help make Whistler a vibrant and authentic year-round mountain resort community. We look forward to continuing to work with the Resort Municipality of Whistler to deliver those services,” adds Rozsa.

CUPE Local 2010 represents workers in the following departments at Whistler: utilities; maintenance at Meadow Park Recreational Facilities; central stores (buying and purchasing agents and auto mechanics); the Wastewater Treatment Facility; Village of Pemberton outside workers.
