Powell River library workers reach tentative agreement

Powell River library workers reach tentative agreement

POWELL RIVER – Powell River library workers, represented by CUPE Local 798, have reached a tentative agreement with the Powell River Public Library.

“We are confident that this agreement addresses our members’ longstanding concerns around wage fairness and supports fair compensation for workers and improved services for residents,” says CUPE Local 798 President Fred Stutt.

Stutt says the union is committed to working collaboratively with the Library to develop and implement a newly negotiated job evaluation plan.

Library workers had been without a contract since December 2021.

No further details of the agreement will be released until both parties have ratified the tentative agreement.

“Our members are passionate about the work they do and the services they provide in our community, and we look forward to working with the new Library Board and its leadership team to deliver quality library services to residents,” says Stutt.

CUPE 798 represents workers at the Powell River Public Library.
