Every Day is Earth Day

On April 22 Canadians and people in over one-hundred and sixty countries will participate in Earth Day activities designed to promote a clean and healthy environment. CUPE’s Environmental Committee is working on specific plans that will move us towards sustainable communities. As part of your Earth Day activities, the Committee asks that each local union makes a formal request that their employer undertakes a specific environmental program.

Earth Day is for Kids!

CUPE National sponsors an Earth Day Poster Contest

for young people to help raise environmental awareness. Ask a young person in your family or your community to create a poster about what the environment means to them.

Or draw a poster on any paper and mail it to:

CUPE Health and Safety Branch,
1375 St. Laurent Boulevard,
Ottawa, ON
K1G 0Z7

The contest deadline is Friday, May 29, 2009. All poster submissions will be eligible to win nifty environmentally-friendly prizes. And some posters will be featured on CUPE National’s website.

Download a mini-poster about some things you can do for Earth Day and every day.
