CUPE 1816 and Pacific Blue Cross reach tentative agreement

CUPE 1816 and Pacific Blue Cross reach tentative agreement

February 28, 2023

BURNABY— After several months of collective bargaining focused on meaningfully addressing the issues of cost of living challenges, the modern work environment, and diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, CUPE Local 1816 and Pacific Blue Cross have come to terms on a five-year tentative agreement retroactive to August 1, 2022.

“It’s been a long process, but we are pleased to have reached this agreement and we thank our members for their patience and support throughout this round of bargaining,” said CUPE 1816 President Beth Miller.

“We believe that the Employer heard our collective voice, and that has resulted in a tentative agreement that addresses the issues we brought to the table.”

The parties will be bringing the recommended agreement to their respective principals for ratification in the upcoming weeks.

CUPE 1816 represents 688 members who work as customer service representatives, benefit claims examiners, and in other classifications for Pacific Blue Cross and subsidiaries.
