While the Campbell government continues to ignore domestic violence, as evidenced in B.C. solicitor general Kash Heed’s action plan released in late January, our federal government’s record is no better.
In December 2009, the B.C. CEDAW Group made a submission to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. The submission was in response to Canada’s Follow-up Report on Progress in Implementing Priority Recommendations made by the Committee in its 2008 Concluding Observations on Canada. The title Nothing to Report says it all in terms of the lack of progress on priority areas for Canadian women.
