Record number of CUPE members seeking election to local government

Record number of CUPE members seeking election to local government

BURNABY—With local election day—November 19—fast approaching, we’re going to feature one CUPE member seeking election every day for the balance of the campaign.

First up is Janet Chalmers, from CUPE Local 593. Janet is running for the office of Councilor for the City of Mission.

Janet has been a school secretary with the Mission School District for the past 20 years.  She is a founding member of the Mission Environmental Society.

What Janet has to say about herself and her campaign: “My vision is to be a councilor in Mission and work to bring our community together; to be supportive of one another, supportive of our town, and to ensure your voices are heard.”

NOTE: We will add an additional CUPE member running for office each day of the campaign. Check back here often to see the latest.
