CUPE BC donates $1000 to striking Essex County library workers

CUPE BC donates $1000 to striking Essex County library workers

BURNABY—CUPE BC’s Executive Board is sending a second $1000 donation to CUPE Local 2974 members who’ve been on strike against the Essex County Library since June 25. The division previously donated $1000 to Local 2974 in September.

“CUPE members always have each other’s backs, and particularly at this time of year our Executive Board wanted to extend financial support to these workers who’ve been forced on strike by a bad employer,” said CUPE BC Secretary-Treasurer Trevor Davies. “While we hope our donation will help these workers through the holiday season, we hope even more that the Essex County Council will get back to the table and negotiate a fair collective agreement that will get people back to work and open libraries for citizens.”
