CUPE BC passionate about justice for all

VANCOUVER—The labour movement has a responsibility to work with and support organizations that provide legal services for low-income and vulnerable people, CUPE BC General Vice President Paul Faoro told a packed room at a fundraising event late last week to support Vancouver’s Pivot Legal Society.

“In my view, the labour community should be working more closely with groups like Pivot, because we all share the goal of a more just, more inclusive society where everyone counts,” said Faoro, who also serves as President of CUPE 15. “That’s why CUPE BC supported this event, and it’s why we’re proud to work with you.”

A Passion for Justice, held at District 319 in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, featured a variety of entertainers, including a pole dancing demonstration from Tantra Fitness and the singing and dancing of drag queen Carlotta Gurl.

CUPE BC, along with CUPE 15, CUPE 1004 and CUPE 391, are strong supporters of Pivot, including being founding supporters of the summertime music and arts festival Justice Rocks.
