Reminder: Municipal Pension Plan AGM October 12, 2011

BURNABY—CUPE members are encouraged to attend the Municipal Pension Plan Annual General Meeting. There are two options for attending the meeting; either in person in Burnaby or via webcast wherever you may be that morning.

The AGM is taking place Wednesday October 12, 2011 at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown (6083 McKay Avenue) and the meeting will begin at 9:30 am. Visit mpp.pensionsbc.ca to view the webcast online or contact the MPP to attend the AGM in person.

Municipal Pension Plan AGM coming up

BURNABY—CUPE members are encouraged to book the morning of October 12 for either a webcast or a trip to Burnaby as the Municipal Pension Plan will be holding its annual general meeting.

Log on to mpp.pensionsbc.ca, or contact the MPP to attend the AGM in person. The meeting will be held at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown (6083 McKay Avenue) starting at 9:30 a.m. on October 12.

Beef up CPP, Conservative panel told

RICHMOND—A few hundred people came from across the Lower Mainland to tell their stories and make the case for better retirement security at a May 3 forum on Canada’s retirement income system.

Conservative Members of Parliament Diane Ablonczy, Ted Menzies and Alice Wong heard from close to 40 people – many calling for an improved Canada Pension Plan and better protection for workplace pensions – during the three and a half hour town hall.

Your Salary and Your Future Municipal Pension

You can maximize your future pension by making certain all of your pensionable salary is properly accounted for. Your Municipal pension is based on the number of years you made contributions to the Plan and the average of your highest five years of salary.

Salary for pension purposes includes all earnings that are part of an employee’s ongoing compensation.
