CUPE BC sponsors Justice Forum at DOXA festival

CUPE BC sponsors Justice Forum at DOXA festival

VANCOUVER—CUPE BC is proud to be the major sponsoring partner of the third annual Justice Forum of this year’s DOXA documentary film festival, which starts tonight and runs until Sunday, May 13.

First introduced at the 2010 Festival, the Justice Forum has grown and developed into one of DOXA’s most important programs. The intent of the Justice Forum is to offer DOXA audiences a means for direct engagement with global justice issues through passionate and expansive discussion about the films presented in the festival. The ten featured films in the 2012 Justice Forum are international both in origin and focus, and encompass a broad range of social justice issues.

At three of the screenings, a CUPE BC executive board member will be on hand to welcome the audience and introduce the speakers. Regional-vice president Ian Norton will host “How to Start a Revolution” (Saturday, May 5, 6 p.m. at Pacific Cinemateque) and “Big Boys Gone Bananas” (Sunday, May 6, 6 p.m. at Pacific Cinemateque), while general vice-president Paul Faoro will host “Staff Entrance” (Wednesday, May 9, 4 p.m. at Pacific Cinemateque).

For a complete list of the Justice Forum films, with details on times and venues, visit the Justice Forum page of the DOXA website.
