Invermere Library Workers Join CUPE

Invermere Library Workers Join CUPE

INVERMERE—Library workers at the Invermere Public Library have voted unanimously in favour of joining CUPE.

Nicole Pawlak, a community librarian at the Invermere Public Library, says that the five library workers are looking forward to moving ahead with this new chapter.

“Library workers are front-line employees who carry out the day-to-day operations at the library,” says Pawlak. “We feel that by joining CUPE we will have a stronger voice and be able to better serve our community.”

Pawlak says the decision to pick CUPE as the union to represent Invermere library workers was easy.

“CUPE is a large union and by becoming part of CUPE we will now have access to a wide array of information, education tools and resources. We are confident that CUPE will be able to help us negotiate a fair collective agreement which both reflects the needs of the staff and keeps the best of interest of the library and its patrons in mind.”
