Polls tightening as election nears—advance polls next week

This is the third in a series of web stories to update you on significant developments in the BC provincial election campaign.

The latest opinion polls show that the race is getting tighter as we get closer to election day—May 14. That demonstrates, again, how important it’s going to be for every CUPE member in the province to get out and vote. In the 2009 election, the BC Liberals were re-elected—and brought in the HST as a result—by very tight margins in a very few seats. Our members have the ability to make the difference in those tight races.

Next week, advance polls will be open all across the province from Wednesday to Saturday. Check out www.elections.bc.ca to learn where you can vote early—and avoid the lineups on Election Day. We’re strongly encouraging folks to vote early so they can help us get out the vote on May 14th.

Want to help CUPE members stay informed? Interested in learning more about how you can help bring positive change to BC? Let our political action coordinator know at politicalaction@cupe.bc.ca and we can let you know about our few remaining volunteer phone bank opportunities, and we can connect you with your local NDP campaign to volunteer for Election Day.

Finally, don’t forget to share CUPE BC’s election video and website with your networks. You can do that directly from our website–www.youcandobetter.ca—or you can go to our Facebook page and share from there.
