Tentative deal at Pacific Blue Cross

Tentative deal at Pacific Blue Cross

VANCOUVER —CUPE 1816 has reached a tentative four-year agreement with health benefits provider Pacific Blue Cross after seven months to the day of hard bargaining.

The agreement-in-principle still needs to be ratified by the 610 members of the local. CUPE 1816 president Beth Miller says the bargaining team will be recommending acceptance of the package.

“We are pleased to have achieved a fair collective agreement without the necessity of a strike vote,” Miller said, “while at the same time fulfilling the bargaining mandate from our members.”

The ratification vote will take place in the coming weeks and details of the pact will be released following the vote.

CUPE 1816 members at Pacific Blue Cross work in a broad range of job classifications, from underwriters to benefit examiners, claim representatives, benefits administrators and call centre employees.
