Ten Percent Shift website wins international award

Ten Percent Shift website wins international award

Informative, entertaining and easy to understand. Those are just a few of the words people have been using to describe tenpercentshift.ca, the website of CUPE BC’s Ten Percent Shift campaign. Now you can add “award winning” to that list.

The Shift site picked up the Bronze award at the Summit Creative Awards in the category of Best Community Website.

“I’m really pleased by this award, and I want to congratulate NOW Communications for doing such a great job building the site,” said CUPE BC President Barry O’Neill. “We wanted to create a place online where people can learn from each other about great new ways to support local economies.”

Since the campaign was launched, nearly 1,000 British Columbians have gone to the Shift site to take the Ten Percent Shift pledge.  By pledging to support their local economy, “Shifters” get access to an interactive database that allows them to promote local products and businesses to other Shifters.

“I’ve been speaking about the Shift all over the province, and all over the country, and everywhere I go the feedback on this campaign has just been overwhelmingly positive. It’s great to see that reflected in this award,” said O’Neill.

The Summit Creative Awards are given annually to small and medium creative and advertising firms and attract entries from more than 50 countries. Judges are drawn from some of the most prestigious agencies and creative institutions in the world.
