CUPE locals sponsor Justice Rocks for third year

VANCOUVER—CUPE Locals 15, 389, 391, 1004 and Metro Vancouver, along with CUPE BC and CUPE National are co-sponsoring Justice Rocks, an open-air music festival, on Sunday, August 15, 2010. The free family-friendly event starts at 1pm and goes until 8pm in Vancouver’s Strathcona Park.

Pivot Legal Society is hosting the third annual Justice Rocks music festival. This year’s musical line-up includes Maria in the Shower, Abstract Random, En Karma, Corbin Murdock and more. Besides the musical performances, the event includes skate demos, children’s performances, youth hip-hop and displays by many social justice organizations, including CUPE.

CUPE BC’s Young Workers Task Force will help staff CUPE’s booth along with members from participating locals. Public drinking water will be provided with the assistance of CUPE 1004.

“Participating in Justice Rocks shows young people that CUPE cares about, and is a part of their community,” says CUPE National Young Workers Committee co-chair Trevor Davies. “CUPE is an organization they can trust.”
