Register now for Champions for Public Education conference

VANCOUVER – CUPE BC’s Champions for Public Education conference promises to be a stimulating experience for CUPE members in the K-12, college and university sectors.

The conference runs from Monday, October 26 to Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Vancouver. And the registration deadline is Friday, October 9, so get your registrations in as soon as possible.

Distinguished UBC law professor and author Joel Bakan is the keynote speaker and will open the conference on Monday night. Mr. Bakan’s book The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power was adapted into a highly successful film that has been an important tool for activists. CUPE BC will host a reception following the opening session.

Delegates from all sectors will attend the Monday night session and the closing plenary on Wednesday afternoon. In between that, K-12 and university delegates will participate in series panels and workshops specific to their sectors. College sector participants will participate in a college board of governor training session and can participate in university workshops as well.
