B.C.’s largest union today began an advertising campaign to reinforce the importance of continuing to follow provincial health officials’ directions to fight COVID-19 and to thank CUPE members in particular.
“Like everyone, CUPE members in B.C. have been impacted by the pandemic—many are working from home, but many more also continue to deliver vital frontline public services,” said CUPE BC President Paul Faoro. “This ad campaign is intended to thank them—and everyone—for what they’re doing to flatten the curve and save as many lives as possible. Unfortunately, many of our members have been laid off, but we are working hard to make sure they can return to work as soon as possible.”
The ad campaign features a radio commercial featuring the song “We’re All in This Together” by Juno Award winning artist Sam Roberts Band.
“I’ve often said that we are all in this together, regardless of our varying perspectives on issues,” said Faoro. “That’s never been more true than it is today, and I hope that as we emerge from this pandemic that everyone will remember the spirit of solidarity and unity we’ve all felt as we battled COVID-19. I also hope that our campaign also provides some level of support for local media outlets hit hard by the tough economic times.”
