CUPE 3004 ratifies new collective agreement

ELKFORD—The District of Elkford and its municipal workers, CUPE 3004 members, have reached a new four-year collective agreement.

“We are pleased to announce that the both the union and the employer have ratified the new contract for Elkford’s municipal workers,” says Keith Nielson, CUPE National Representative. “It was a challenging round of negotiations, and we believe it resulted in a fair and reasonable agreement for the times.”

The agreement includes modest wage increases in each year of the agreement and improvements to sick leave benefits.

The agreement begins in March 2012 and expires in February 2016.

CUPE 3004 members are both inside and outside workers who provide a wide array of services to their community including garbage collection, water and sewage treatment, roads maintenance, administrative and financial services, tourism, programming, swim lessons, boat licensing, arena and facility maintenance as well as parks and playground maintenance.
