Health Sciences Professionals negotiations scheduled

VANCOUVER–The Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA) and Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) have agreed to begin contract discussions March 17, 2010. The current collective agreement expires at the end of March.

Health Sciences Association (HSA) is the lead union, representing 16,000 health science professionals in the HSPBA. CUPE represents over 500 members in this bargaining association represented by CUPE Locals 15, 1978 and 4816. Last fall, delegates to CUPE’s Bargaining Convention identified maintaining current benefits, wage parity and addressing reclassification issues as top priorities.

“Members want to protect quality public health services through achieving a fair contract,” says bargaining team member, Frank de Waard, CUPE Local 4816.

CUPE’s representatives on the bargaining committee are Justin Schmid (CUPE National Representative), Frank de Waard (CUPE 4816), and Caroline Mewis (CUPE 15).
