Cheque cheers locked-out landscapers

RICHMOND – CUPE 4964 workers at the Quilchena Golf Course marked their 50th day of being locked out with a visit from Barbara Wilson, president of CUPE 3966.  Wilson was on hand first thing this morning to present the local with a donation cheque of $500.

Wilson told CUPE Municipal Sector coordinator Heather Inglis that her Richmond library workers’ local made the decision after ratifying their own new collective agreement earlier this month. “We realized that for some locals, the process is much more difficult,” she explained.  The 19 landscapers and greenskeepers  of CUPE 4964  have been locked out since Feb. 4. Local vice-president Mike Pavlicevic was on hand to gratefully accept the donation from its sister local.
