Forum to stop the cuts to Vancouver schools

VANCOUVER —The Stop School Cuts Coalition of Vancouver is hosting a public education forum to highlight the drastic proposed cuts to the VSB budget. Provincial underfunding of our public schools is an ongoing problem and members from the VSB Board of Trustees, Parent Advisory Groups, Student and Union leaders, City Councillors, Park Board Commissioners and members from other levels of government will be in attendance to show support for Vancouver’s public education system.

The Band and Strings program from Lord Byng Secondary will be playing at 1:30 pm till the start of the forum at 2 pm, all the students are in grade 8 or 9 and are recent graduates of the program.

Margaret MacDiarmid, B.C. Minister of Education, has been invited to attend.

When: Sunday, April 18, 2:00 pm

Where: John Oliver Secondary School, 530 E. 41st Ave. (at Fraser St)
