Turning pink in the Terrace sunshine

Turning pink in the Terrace sunshine

TERRACE—School workers came out in force and in pink on a sunny day in Terrace to celebrate anti-bullying day on April 14.

Members of CUPE 2052 who work in the Coast Mountains School District want to encourage an end to bullying throughout the school system – including their workplaces.

Applauding the emphasis on eliminating bullying on playgrounds and other areas where students gather, CUPE 2052 president and school secretary Cerrina Gagnon says there is still a lot of work to do to end workplace bullying and harassment.

“Our members are proud to ensure safe schools for our students. On April 14 we made a strong statement that we need to ensure safe workplaces for CUPE members,” says Gagnon.

CUPE 2052 members celebrated anti-bullying day by wearing CUPE’s pink No Bullying T-shirts to work on April 14 and then to the Board of Education’s meeting that night.

The local represents school support staff in Terrace, Kitimat, Hazelton, Stewart and Kitwanga.
