Community health sector bargaining underway

Community health sector bargaining underway

VANCOUVER – CUPE and other health unions in the Community Bargaining Association (CBA) are at the table this week with the Health Employers’ Association of B.C. CUPE bargaining committee member Pat Taylor said the bargaining team will be negotiating hard “for an agreement that addresses the serious issues facing community health workers in B.C., especially given the current economic climate.” The current collective agreement expires on March 31, 2010.

CUPE represents more than 500 community health workers in the CBA who work for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and Fraser Health Authority, well as at the B.C. Persons with AIDS Society and for Canadian Mental Health in Port Alberni. Our members include licensed practical nurses, home support and clinical and administrative support service workers.

Bargaining Updates will be issued as the talks progress.
