Special Lunch Time Forum for all Local Treasurers

This is a special forum is for our Local Treasurers to  meet a representative from SEAMARK who will review the various asset classes in which you can invest and the risks associated with each one.  Attached please find an invitation from Secretary-Treasurer Paul Faoro with more information. Communications Breakfast - Attention Local Communicators!!

Do you do the communications for your Local or your District Council?  If you don’t, is it something you are interested in?  If you are coming to convention, you are invited to attend the Communicators Breakfast on Saturday morning. Click here to view the event details.

Electronic Voting Test

On Saturday before the lunch break we are planning to test out an electronic voting system. While there are several different electronic voting systems available we will be trying one hosted by Simply Voting.  We are going to have some fun with this vote! This test vote is voluntary and non-binding.  We are encouraging delegates to bring a smart phone, tablet or laptop capable of connecting to the internet in order to participate in the vote. To help with this CUPE BC will be providing free WiFi access for all delegates for the entire Convention! 

Pension Forum - Presentation by National President Paul Moist

National President Paul Moist will do a presentation on pension trends and challenges for our union and the general population.  Strategies for defending fair pensions for all will form the substance of the presentation followed by a Q&A session.  Click here to view the event details.

Are you a new delegate to convention and would like to learn about the Rules of Order and gain a better understanding of convention before it begins?

District Councils’ Hospitality Night

All six District Councils will once again host a Joint Hospitality Night this year at convention.  Come out and meet delegates from others districts and enjoy some appies and a beverage or two.  Click here to view the event details.

Political Action Presentation by Paul Moist, President of CUPE National

Share breakfast with Paul Moist and talk about the upcoming Federal Election.  There is much at stake in the election. Brother Moist will discuss the issues and share CUPE’s strategy for electing a government that will respect democracy and work for working people.  Click here to view the event details.

Friday Night Event – Convention Dance 

This year at convention, there will be a social and dance on Friday night.  There will not be a banquet this year as we find most delegates like to go out for dinner when we hold the convention in Vancouver.  There is no admission charge for the dance. Click here to view the event details.
