White Rock Residents to Review Opportunities for Accountable Public Water

WHITE ROCK – Who should be accountable for our water? A public forum beginning 7PM, Monday, June 3rd at White Rock’s First United Church will provide some answers as the City of White Rock explores opportunities for public operation of its drinking water systems, currently owned by the Edmonton based utility corporation EPCOR.

Hosted by the White Rock Accountable Water Committee, the forum features Professor Dr. Mildred Warner from Cornell University Department of City and Regional Planning who will join a panel of White Rock community representatives presenting options for increased public accountability of drinking water in White Rock.

Dr. Warner is a leading expert in local government service delivery and economic development, conducting extensive research exploring the impact of privatization and devolution on local government. She will join the public forum following her presentations to meetings of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) occurring next week in Vancouver.
