CUPE makes its presents known

CUPE makes its presents known

VANCOUVER – More than 100 CUPE members, ambulance paramedics and community activists were on hand last night to greet Premier Gordon Campbell at his annual Christmas party at the UBC Golf Club. Campbell had to run a gauntlet of protesters with Fight Bill 21 signs to enter the building.

Santas and their elves gave out gift bags with a CUPE first aid kit, Champions of Education bumph and a Campbell cartoon featuring The Grinch Who Stole Collective Bargaining! The Solidarity Notes Choir serenaded B.C. Liberals heading into the Vancouver-Point Grey Liberal event. Most took the free gifts in good spirits, with the exception of one Scrooge who accused ambulance paramedics of “making us look bad” by protesting. Bah, humbug!

The next event in the Fight Bill 21 campaign is tomorrow (Wednesday) in Victoria outside the Oak Bay – Gordon Head constituency office of Liberal MLA Ida Chong at 12 Noon.
