Paramedics support executive, return incumbents

Paramedics support executive, return incumbents

RICHMOND—CUPE 873, Ambulance Paramedics of BC, gave a strong endorsement to their Executive Committee by returning all incumbents.

“This is a vote of confidence in our fight to improve ambulance services,” says CUPE 873 president John Strohmaier. “We are united as we move this strike forward.”

CUPE 873 delegates unanimously supported the entire executive and returned all incumbents to office. Returned to CUPE 873’s provincial executive committee are president John Strohmaier, secretary treasurer Tom Manz, recording secretary Bryon Longaway, first vice president Bronwyn Barter, second vice president David Deines, and public education director BJ Chute.

“This demonstrates that we are leaving this convention stronger today than when we started,” adds Strohmaier. “With membership united behind our executive, we’re again turning our attention to ending this strike and renewing pressure on this government to improve ambulance services in British Columbia.”

“The strike carries on today,” adds Dave Deines, who is also the CUPE 873 provincial strike coordinator. “We’ll be leaving our Convention today to advance our strike and improve services by bringing a fair collective agreement to paramedics in B.C.”

The existing provincial executive was returned to office at the Ambulance Paramedics of BC Convention that wraps up in Richmond today.
