CUPE reaches out to White Rock residents and businesses

WHITE ROCK – CUPE has written directly to City of White Rock residents and businesses in anticipation of possible job action.

CUPE 402-01 President Mike Guraliuk said that with essential service levels being finalized last week, the union wants to ensure that their community hears directly from them about why they are considering job action at this time.

“We don’t want to disrupt services, but until we see concrete progress, we feel we have little choice. While we are pleased that new discussions with the City are scheduled for later this week, we continue to prepare for all scenarios. We need to see significant movement on key issues from City negotiators, and until then, the possibility of job action is very real,” said Guraliuk.

Key issues for the union include the need for clear hours of work for all employees, fair treatment for casual and part-time employees, and protection for members who become seriously ill.

CUPE 402-01 represents members who work for the City of White Rock and provide a wide range of services to White Rock residents and businesses.
