CUPE members take pride in Vancouver’s international recognition

CUPE members take pride in Vancouver’s international recognition

VANCOUVER – Global consulting firm Mercer’s latest worldwide quality of living survey confirms that Vancouver is a great place to live.  The 2014 report ranks Vancouver first in Canada and fifth in the world for quality of life.

CUPE BC President Mark Hancock said that the criteria on which Vancouver was judged to be outstanding has a lot to do with the CUPE members who work for the city.

“Mercer points to Vancouver’s more than 200 parks and to our excellent health facilities and sanitation,” said Hancock. “CUPE members are hard at work every day to help make Vancouver a clean, enjoyable and safe city. It is great to see the results of that work recognized in an international survey.”

5700 CUPE members provide municipal services to residents and businesses in the City of Vancouver.
