Funds available for social services workers

The Community Social Services Labour Adjustment and Education Fund Committee is now taking applications for education funding. 

The LAEF Fund is designed to help CUPE community social services workers who have been laid off  or had their hours severely cut since April 1, 2011 or who are interested in jobplace skills development. The fund can provide opportunities to upgrade skills in current positions, a related job or other job classification with priority given to training related to the community social services sector.

The courses or programs approved are usually those offered at BC public post-secondary institutions or through a BC school district Continuing Adult Education program.  For successful applicants, the fund will reimburse course fees and course-related expenses to a lifetime maximum of $5,000.
