BURNABY— The City of Burnaby and its municipal workers, CUPE 23 members, have reached a new four-year collective agreement.
CUPE 23 members held their ratification vote last night (December 12) while the City of Burnaby ratified the agreement this past Monday.
“Working directly with the employer we were able to quickly and effectively negotiate a fair and reasonable agreement which satisfies both parties,” said CUPE 23 president Rick Kotar. “We look forward to continuing to provide quality public services to the residents of Burnaby and to maintaining a positive working relationship with the City of Burnaby.”
The new agreement is retroactive to January 1, 2012 and expires January 31, 2015
CUPE 23 represents 2,500 municipal and library workers who provide quality public services to Burnaby residents including public works, library services, arena and aquatics, RCMP and fire support services as well as administrative services such as accounting and payroll.
