CLC president to address rally on bargaining rights

BURNABY—Canadian Labour Congress president Ken Georgetti will be among the guest speakers tomorrow (Wednesday) at a public rally focusing on the BC Liberal government’s attack on collective bargaining rights through Bill 21.

The rally, to be held outside Burnaby City Hall at 12 noon, will be hosted by BC Federation of Labour secretary-treasurer Angela Schira. There will also be speeches by CUPE BC president Barry O’Neill and CUPE 873 president John Strohmaier, BCGEU president Darryl Walker and USW president Steve Hunt.

“With the Olympics only weeks away, the world is watching B.C. right now,” says O’Neill. “We’re holding this rally to show the world that our provincial government doesn’t believe in fair play when it comes to workers’ rights.”

WHAT: Rally for Our Rights, in support of B.C. ambulance paramedics and free collective bargaining rights

WHEN: Wednesday, January 27, at 12 noon

WHERE: Outside Burnaby City Hall, 4949 Canada Way
