Rethink Child Care website launched

Rethink Child Care website launched

A coalition of unions and child care advocates across Canada has launched a new website to raise awareness about the need for universal child care in this country.

The Rethink Child Care website is available in both English and French.  The site includes many user-friendly features, including videos and news articles, all of which are available in both languages.

The Rethink Child Care group represents more than three million working people across Canada. “We know that too many families are struggling to find decent child care and are scrambling to piece together care they can afford,” the coalition says. “It doesn’t have to be this way. We want to put child care back on the agenda.”

The campaign is a result of the enthusiastic group effort of Canadian unions and childcare advocates. Participants include:

Unions

•Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)

•United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW)

•Canadian Auto Workers (CAW)

•Canadian Union of Postal Workers(CUPW)

•Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP)

•Canadian Labour Congress (CLC)

•Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)

•International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW)

•National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE)

Child Care Advocates

•Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada (CCAAC)

•Child Care Resource and Research Unit (CCRU)
