Quilchena lockout ends after nearly 100 days

Quilchena lockout ends after nearly 100 days

RICHMOND – Nineteen CUPE 4964 employees who work at the Quilchena Golf and Country Club will be returning to work tomorrow after being locked out by their employer for nearly 100 days.

A tentative agreement was reached this morning (May 10), with the help of mediator Grant McArthur.

“CUPE 4964 members are relieved that this lockout has finally ended and that they are finally returning to work and will once again be maintaining the golf course,” says CUPE National Representative Tom McKenna. “The most important thing for our members throughout negotiations was improved language around bargaining unit work and we were able to achieve that which is positive.”

CUPE 4964 members wish to thank everyone who has supported them throughout this lengthy lockout.

“Without the overwhelming support of CUPE our local wouldn’t have been able to last through 100 days of a lockout,” says CUPE 4964 vice-president Michael Pavlicevic. “Thank you again to everyone that supported our local over the past three months.”

**Thank you to all those who committed to coming to the rally tomorrow morning (May 11), however the rally has been CANCELLED.
