Employer accepts CSS joint union bargaining team call to bargain

Employer accepts CSS joint union bargaining team call to bargain

The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) has invited the employer group, the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA), to commence bargaining on Thursday, May 13, 2010 in Richmond.

The CSSBA expects the first meeting will entail establishing a protocol agreement and setting dates and locations for a full exchange of proposals for the Community Living Services and General Services collective agreements.

“Our members who recently enrolled in the successfully secured Municipal Pension Plan are anxious for us to begin the bargaining process for a new collective agreement,” said Cheryl Colborne, Social Services Coordinator for the Canadian Union of Public Employees. “We want a fair deal and one that reflects the needs of our members.”

The CSSBA bargains on behalf of 15,000 unionized community-based social services workers in B.C.

The CSSEA has accepted the invitation, and bargaining will begin tomorrow, Thursday, May 13, 2010.
