CUPE 4951 ratifies new contract at College of New Caledonia

CUPE 4951 ratifies new contract at College of New Caledonia

PRINCE GEORGE–CUPE Local 4951 ratified a collective agreement with the College of New Caledonia in a vote concluded on June 29.

“I’m pleased that members voted to ratify this agreement and will have access to professional development funds,” said CUPE 4951 President Lily Bachand. “This round of bargaining highlighted the excellent work done by our bargaining committee.”

The negotiated settlement follows the provincial mandate for wage increases of 5.5 per cent over five years.  As part of this agreement the union has secured funding earmarked for professional development that will be available exclusively for CUPE 4951 members.

CUPE 4951 represents approximately 350 members who provide a wide range of services. These include admission, trades technicians, library support, custodial and advising services at six regional campuses. They serve the communities of Prince George, Burns Lake, Fort St. James, Vanderhoof, Quesnel and Mackenzie and ensure that post-secondary education is accessible to people living in British Columbia’s northern communities.
