CUPE 441 education workers to present to Saanich School Board

SAANICH—The union representing education workers in District 63 will make a presentation to the Saanich School Board to press for a funded settlement to avert a strike in the public school system this fall.

“Saanich School Board is well-positioned to reach a settlement that includes modest and fair wage increases for our members,” said Dean Coates, President of Local 441.

Coates will be highlighting cost savings achieved by the district as a result of an open source software project and Powersmart initiatives.

CUPE 441 represents 500 workers, including education assistants, clerical workers, trades people, custodians, and other support staff in the Saanich public school system.
