Bargaining update for CUPE members of CSSEA employers – talks break off for the summer

Bargaining update for CUPE members of CSSEA employers – talks break off for the summer

The multi-union bargaining committee met with the CSSEA/Employers throughout the month of June. These meetings failed to provide any substantive movement by either party. Unfortunately, CSSEA and the Employers are unavailable for further meetings until September which means a timely settlement is highly unlikely.

The multi-union bargaining committee is meeting during the second week of July in order to review progress in bargaining thus far and to discuss bargaining strategy.

CUPE is the second largest union in the CSS Bargaining Association (CSSBA), which bargains on behalf of 15,000 unionized community-based social services workers in B.C.

Please continue to check the CUPE BC website for updates at www.cupe.bc.ca and we encourage members to attend any information sessions and/or Local meetings which may be scheduled over the month of July and August.
