Solidarity on the line in Prince George

Solidarity on the line in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE—CUPE members at the University of Northern BC in Prince George continue to support the Faculty Association who have now been on strike for 18 days. Members of CUPE 3799 representing support staff at UNBC and CUPE 2278 representing teaching assistants have supported striking faculty on the picket line since the strike began on November 7.

“This is Day 18 and a month before Christmas,” said CUPE 3799 President Caroline Sewell. “This is a difficult time for everyone at UNBC. Solidarity is about standing shoulder to shoulder to create a stronger wall and that’s what CUPE members do.”

Sewell noted that striking is always challenging but is sometimes needed to reach a settlement. “What affects one worker affects all workers,” said Sewell.

CUPE members are asked to honour any and all picket lines.
