CUPE 4500 launches new video campaign

CUPE 4500 launches new video campaign

NEW WESTMINSTER—CUPE 4500 (Coast Mountain Bus Company and BC Transit workers) today launched a series of videos aimed at raising public awareness of the important role that transit supervisors, maintenance supervisors, and transit communications supervisors and coordinators play in maintaining a safe and efficient transit system in Metro Vancouver and Victoria.

The videos, conceived and produced by the Local in conjunction with CUPE Communications and Working TV, feature CUPE 4500 members in all three job categories describing the work they do—much of which is rarely seen by the commuting public. The slogan is “Keeping you safe and the service moving.”

The videos were produced in time for this year’s round of bargaining with the Coast Mountain Bus Company, said CUPE 4500 President Rob Woods.

“These videos really show what our members do, each and every day, to make sure that problems are dealt with in a timely fashion and that the transit service keeps running smoothly,” said Woods.

The Greater Vancouver footage was shot in public areas near Vancouver transit centres and in a Burnaby studio. The Victoria footage was shot on BC Transit property with the company’s full cooperation and consent.

The videos can be seen at: www.cupe4500.com.
