Talks to resume in Qualicum Beach town lockout

Talks to resume in Qualicum Beach town lockout

QUALICUM BEACH – Following a productive meeting with the Town Council yesterday, locked out CUPE 401 members and the Town of Qualicum Beach plan to return to the bargaining table. The parties will meet on Thursday, August 27, and will seek the assistance of a mediator from the B.C. Labour Relations Board. CUPE 401 picket lines will remain up at municipal facilities.

CUPE 401 members have been locked out since July 31, 2015. During the lockout, CUPE 401 members are picketing at several sites including the town hall, airport, parks yard, civic centre, community centre and works yard. The town has closed its public washrooms and garbage won’t be picked up by unionized employees.
