Victoria area workers ratify three-year deals

VICTORIA – CUPE civic workers in Greater Victoria have ratified new three-year deals.  The contracts run until Dec. 31, 2016 an includes wage increases of  1.75 per cent for the first year, one per cent in January 2015 and one per cent in July 2015, and two per cent in 2016. The final ratification votes were completed this week.

The negotiations with respective employers and the Greater VictoriaLabour Relations Association cover agreements with City of Victoria workers, North Saanich,  Greater Victoria Public Library, Colwood, Oak Bay,  Sidney,  Metchosin, Esquimalt, West Shore, the Capital Regional District and the Victoria Police Board. The wage package is the same in all the agreements, but contract language varies.

The no-concessions deals were ratified following five months of negotiations. The agreements were ratified by the employers in mid-August.
