SQUAMISH –CUPE 2269, municipal workers in Squamish, and the District of Squamish have reached a new four-year agreement, both the union and the District have voted in favour of ratifying the agreement.
“After a difficult round of negotiations we are glad to have reached a fair and reasonable agreement for our members. CUPE 2269 members are proud of the quality public services we provide our community and we look forward to continuing to provide them in the future,” says CUPE 2269 president Wayne Chadwick.
The four-year deal is retroactive to January 1, 2012 and will expire December 31, 2015. It includes a 1.25 percent wage increase in the first year, 1.75 percent in the middle years and a 2 two percent increase in the final year. Other improvements include an increase in boot allowance as well as improvements to bereavement leave.
CUPE 2269 represent 150 municipal employees who provide public services including snow removal, water and waste water services, animal and bylaw control, recreation services, landscaping and maintenance in parks, and services at the RCMP detachment as well as at Squamish Municipal Hall.
