Important survey on unionized child care centres

Important survey on unionized child care centres

BURNABY—CUPE is a partner organization on the Child Care Human Resources Sector Council (CCHRSC), which will be defunded as of March next year. In the meantime, the council has funding to complete an important survey on wages, benefits, and working conditions in child care centres.

The Child Care Human Resources Sector Council is sponsoring a survey of the child care sector and we need you to spread the word. The survey is called You Bet We Still Care! and it will be online in late May.

A promotional flyer explaining the benefits of completing the survey (you could win an iPad) is available online. At this early stage, the CCHRSC is looking to promote the survey as widely as possible; your participation (ie, spreading the word) is key to the success of the You Bet We Still Care! survey.

How you can help:

•           Forward the promotional flyer to your networks, members, colleagues – especially ECEs, directors/administrators/owners and program staff.

•           Post the promotional flyer on your website, in your e-bulletin, or include it in your newsletter, conference package, etc. Sample wording to simply copy/paste is provided below.

•           Share the promotional flyer using social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

•           Print and post the promotional flyer in your centre, classroom, office, etc (if you’d like printed copies, please contact the CCHRSC).

For more information, contact the CCHRSC, info@ccsc-cssge.ca

Sample wording:

Please cut/paste in your newsletters, e-bulletin, website, social media pages, etc.

We need your input – the “You Bet We Still Care!” survey is coming in May.

The Child Care Human Resources Sector Council is sponsoring a survey of employers (including administrators, owners, directors, and supervisors) and employees (including ECEs and program staff) working in regulated, full-day, centre-based programs. The survey – “You Bet We Still Care!” – will be released at the end of May. Click here to learn more about the survey.

These types of surveys rarely come along. Responding to the survey will help to raise the profile of the ECEC profession and workforce. As a thank-you for participating, you can enter your name in a draw to win an iPad!

For more information on the project and to receive e-mail notification when the survey is live, please visit the CCHRSC website to sign-up for the CCHRSC’s newsletter.
