Eleven three-year collective agreements ratified in Victoria

VICTORIA—Eleven CUPE bargaining units have ratified new three-year collective agreements with their respective employers and the Greater Victoria Labour Relations Association (GVLRA).

CUPE 50, CUPE 333, CUPE 374, CUPE 410 and CUPE 1978 were all notified on December 14 that the GVLRA had voted in favour of ratifying the agreements. Included in the agreements are wage increases of two per cent in each of the three years, as well as a few minor improvements to benefits.

The 11 bargaining units were: the City of Victoria and the Victoria Police Board (CUPE 50), the Township of Esquimalt (CUPE 333), the District of Oak Bay, the District of North Saanich, the District of Colwood, the District of Metchosin and the Town of Sidney (CUPE 374), the Greater Victoria Public Library Board (CUPE 410), as well as West Shore Parks and Recreation and the Capital Regional District (CUPE 1978).

Combined, this group represents approximately 4,200 workers throughout the Greater Victoria area. The new contracts run until December 31, 2013.
